Embrace Stillness: Find Your Center

When I’m feeling pain and sadness. When life seems overwhelmed by chaos and disorder. When confusion clouds direction. I do what is immediately within my control. I take time for quiet and go within and listen to the wisdom of my soul. It takes me to a place where I am centered. A place of stillness and calm.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

Wayne Dyer

I keep it simple. No special place, no routine, nothing elaborate, though finding a quiet spot certainly helps. I go within my heart and project love and kindness. I go within my compassion and project peace and understanding. I go within my humanity and project rightness and trustworthiness. I think it. I feel it.

 This is my truth:

In this world, I choose who I am…I am love. I am kindness. I am compassion. I am accepting. I am honest. I am encouraging. I am helpful. I am fair. I will do my part to become part of the change by being responsible for myself, first and radiate this to everyone near and far.

As Gandhi urged us with his timeless wisdom:

“We but mirror the world. All the tendencies present in the outer world are to be found in the world of our body. If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. We need not wait to see what others do. A man is but a product of his thoughts. What he thinks he becomes.”

Embracing stillness helps me find my center. It leads me towards focus and clarity to make the right choices and head in the right direction. This is the beginning of hope. This I can do. ❤

Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.”

Rumi

  1. This is awesome Teri. It’s easy to get caught up in what’s going on outside and around us and being quiet and still and centered is so necessary to foster our love and compassion for those around us.

    1. Thanks Janet. I really appreciate your comment. Like you (your art and poem where wonderful), I wanted to send out love. Daily life has its challenges and when it’s compounded with the world turned upside down and in pain from so many things, I center myself so I can be a positive and loving force in the world ❤️🥰🤗

  2. I am a huge fan of peace and quiet. I normally crave the quiet Saturday morning to myself. Recently, still working from home, I’m surrounded by an overwhelming amount of quiet. I am ready to get back to my life, more activity so the quiet brings me peace, rather that too much focus on the chaos outside my life. Perhaps I’m using this gift of quiet in the wrong way…

    1. Thanks Lisa!

I’m a huge fan of finding quiet so I can recenter. I’ve learned to be more aware and when I get too much chatter and my mind won’t stop racing – I stop whatever I’m doing and TAKE the quiet time I desperately need.

I love your Saturday morning quiet time and I’m sure that helps you recalibrate and recharge from the week. Especially important when working from home 😉

When I do this my body actually sighs in gratitude 😌

Thanks for your kind words 😍🤗
